ENGINEERING MECHANICS 2009

May 11 – 14, 2009, Svratka, Czech Republic

The objective of the 15 th ENGINEERING MECHANICS conference is to provide a forum for researchers to discuss the state-of-the-art in Mechanics of Solids, Fluids and Thermomechanics, this particularly in connection with problems under investigation in the Czech Republic. Problems of Engineering Mechanics related to the contemplated topics can be discussed, and their solutions presented, during the sessions of the Conference, held at the Hotel of the ŽĎAS, a.s., situated in the beautiful countryside of the Žďár Highlands.

Conference is organized by:

  • Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic

Scientific and technical topics
The Conference will be focused on the whole area of Engineering Mechanics, mainly on the following topics:

  • Analysis, modelling and simulation in mechanics of solids, fluids and thermodynamics
  • Non-linear and stochastic dynamics; motion stability
  • Diagnostic and identification methods in mechanics
  • Interdisciplinary problems in mechanics (mechatronics, biomechanics, aeroelasticity)
  • Kinematics
  • Fracture mechanics
  • Complex problems in mechanical systems (e.g. drive systems, robotics)
  • Reliability of mechanical systems

Submission of papers/posters

The Scientific Committee invites persons interested in presenting a paper/poster to register on web pages of the conference (including titles and abstracts of proposed paper/poster), the deadline being: January 19, 2009.

The organizing committee reserves the right to close the registration if the number of registered participants exceed the limit number.

One person can be a presenting author of two papers or posters only. The presenting author is the person, who makes a registration of the paper at www pages of conference. There is assumed, that presenting author of accepted paper is the representative of authors group. Presenting author is supposed to prepare paper / poster and to present it at the conference in person. Next correspondence will be lead with presenting author, who will be informed about the acceptance or rejection of their papers/posters by February 2, 2009.

The accepted papers will be published in the form of extended abstracts (2 pages) in the Conference Proceedings, while their full text version (6 to 16 pages) will appear at the CD ROM. The time allocated for each presentation is 20 minutes, including discussion. The accepted posters will be presented as usual. The extended abstracts of posters (2 pages) will be published in the Conference Proceedings as well. All of the posters exhibited at the Conference will be accepted into the competition for the prize of the general manager of the ŽĎAS company. Thematic connection with the company's programme is welcomed. The instructions for the paper/poster preparation will be sent jointly with the notification of the acceptance of the paper/poster concerned.

The deadline for the receipt of the full text and extended abstract of the paper/poster: March 16, 2009.

The deadline for payment is April 1, 2009.

If the conference fee is not paid in time, the paper / poster will be excluded from the programme as well as from the proceedings. The confirmation of payment is necessary to deliver to organizers immediately after transaction (letter, fax or e-mail with the scan).

The conference languages are Czech, Slovak and English with there being no simultaneous translation.

The copyright remains with authors and therefore no copyright transfer agreement to organizers of the EM2009 is requested. However, credit should be given to the EM2009 Proceedings, when the same or similar paper will be published in any journal or other proceedings.
