AnotaceOrig: The paper presents a review of Czech research projects or international projects with a Czech participation focused on historic materials and structures. Main research topics and themes involve: stone structures and elements; brick and stone masonry; vaults; timber frames and traditional carpentry joints; historic bridges (wooden, steel and RC); industrial archaeology (structures); historical infrastructure; methods for determination of material characteristics; monitoring of damages; failure analysis; discovering historical technologies; structural restoration as a new approach. Selected themes are discussed in detail, (e.g. brick masonry and carpentry joints under repeated loading, small sample testing of timber, monitoring of cracks on historical objects, failure and damage diagnostics and analysis), and future research needs are identified
