AnotaceOrig: This paper presents the results of modeling a non-standard compression test of timber, executed on small diameter cores in a special testing device. The course of the test is modeled in 3D. The results are correlated with experimental data on core base deformations acquired by moiré interferometry. A combined numerical and experimental approach is used in a method enabling the measured displacements of the loading head of the special testing device to be converted to compressive strength and Young´s modulus of the timber.
